Coloured zinc for creative and technical façades
With the evolution of technology, the aesthetic and chromatic possibilities that zinc can offer have proliferated. As a result, it has found its way onto atypical façades and architectural projects and into countries unfamiliar with this material until only a few years ago.
Once only manufactured and marketed in its natural state, it is now available in an ever-increasing range of greys with our elZinc Alkimi® range. In addition to this range, we offer zinc in warm, natural colours (red, blue, green, black, gold and brown) within the elZinc Rainbow® range, colours which do not completely cover the natural metallic grain of the underlying titanium-zinc whilst adding a touch of fantasy and modernity. Lastly, coil-coated zinc has become another alternative to consider when designing a coloured façade – with its opaque lacquered finishes, it can be coloured to match the shade you always imagined your project’s cladding would have thanks to customised finishing possibilities.
With its colourful finishes, and changing reflections and different installation systems, elZinc Rainbow® can be used to modulate façades, reinforcing buildings’ different identities.
In addition, new installation systems based on self-supporting panels fixed to a wood or metal supporting structure have become popular relatively recently. The façade panel, composite panel and honeycomb panels offer an alternative to traditional techniques, presenting a new aesthetic.
College Sainte Marie (Dinard) – elZinc Rainbow® Brown
The elZinc Rainbow® Brown finish gives College Sainte Marie a natural and earthy character. Its warm tones complement the architectural lines, enhancing the building’s connection to its serene surroundings while ensuring long-lasting beauty.
The Granary (Water Ln) – elZinc Rainbow® Gold
The elZinc Rainbow® Gold finish adds a striking, elegant sheen to The Granary. Its reflective surface enhances the structure’s visual depth, making it a true standout in the landscape while fulfilling the project’s sophisticated design intent.
Restaurant Club de Vela (Praia da Costa Nova) – elZinc Rainbow® Blue
Inspired by its coastal location, the elZinc Rainbow® Blue finish highlights the restaurant’s maritime theme. The smooth, seamless system reinforces the building’s contemporary identity while delivering reliable performance against salty air and sea winds.
L’ Atoll Shopping Mall – elZinc Rainbow® White
The elZinc Rainbow® White finish enhances the mall’s sleek, modern design. Its clean and soft shine, paired with the façade panel system, creates a bold yet refined look that responds playfully to changing light throughout the day.
Coloured Zinc for Unmatched Durability and Design Freedom
While aesthetics take center stage in modern architectural design, performance and longevity are equally crucial especially in demanding environments. Titanium-zinc, known for its durability, lightweight structure, and resistance to corrosion, is a trusted choice in both coastal and urban areas where environmental stressors are significant.
The elZinc Rainbow® series, combined with the advanced elZinc Advance® protection, offers architects and designers not just visual flexibility but also structural peace of mind. With corrosion resistance achieving RC5 classification (highest level according to EN 10169:2010), these solutions ensure that buildings retain their vibrance and integrity for decades, even in harsh saline or polluted environments.
Whether you’re designing a waterfront structure that must withstand marine climates or a contemporary urban landmark that speaks innovation, elZinc Rainbow® allows you to fully explore the material’s expressive potential merging creativity, sustainability, and long-term performance.
